Site Operations Manager
Responsible for the planning and forecasting of capacity needs as it relates to running our business and executing successful product releases. The position of Site Operations Manager requires excellent knowledge of Operations, systems, networking, and other datacenter technologies. This person will also have a proven track record with some statistical analysis and process engineering within companies in the e-commerce or internet infrastructure space.
This person will join a growing Network Operations team based in San Francisco, with responsibilities in San Francisco main office and occasional visits to multiple south bay datacenter locations. Hours are flexible, but will often require late evening and 24x7 response to critical issues on a fast-growing, high volume network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
· Develop models for all aspects of the operations organization including server capacity (CPU, IO, Connections), datacenter capacity (Rack space, Power, Floor space, Network Ports), Project forecasting (URL request, DB Queries)
· Support both Production, QA and Development as it relates to capacity planning
· Develop key metrics to track capacity to goal
· Conduct weekly meeting covering the key metrics with heads of studios and supporting departments
· Track minutes of downtime caused by capacity shortages or issues within control
· Track savings due to capacity recommendations and architectural proposals
· Assist with new technology evaluations as it relates to key capacity metrics
· Assist with building out a capacity monitoring tools and reports shared to give our customers better insight into infrastructure operations
· Recommending, setting and maintaining thresholds - systems, database
· Assist in building automation tools to support the capacity processes - monitoring, data extraction etc.
· Contribute to the integration of capacity monitoring for the NOC and other studios
· Provide metrics to support the executive team in budget forecasting
Qualifications
· Bachelors degree or equivalent
· 7+ years of technical experience, at least 4+ years working in an Operations environment
· Solid datacenter experience, especially on a large scale, high availability site
· Proven track record of delivering projects
· Knowledge of statistical modeling and analytics
· Understanding, interpreting and guiding the build of complex statistical capacity models
· Communicating complex technical concepts to 3rd party studios and other teams
· Demonstrated track record of building and managing talented technical teams
· Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to interface at multiple, variant organizational levels
· Ability to build consensus between peers, managers, executives, and studios
· Applicant must be able to learn technical concepts quickly, and have excellent organizational skills
· Working in a fast paced environment where site changes occur daily
