Senior Systems Architect
The Sr. Systems Architect to join our Network Operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a fondness for understanding business requirements and building solid technical solutions to solve your client’s challenges. The position is full-time and is based in our office in San Francisco with occasional visits to multiple south bay datacenter locations. Hours are flexible, but will often require late evening and 24x7 response to critical issues on a fast-growing, high volume network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
· Must demonstrate Technical Architectural Leadership, playing a vital role in the design of their studio’s infrastructure running in fast-paced, HA environment.
· Analyze business and technical requirements to determine system design, potential issues, and related cost for each project request. Contribute significantly to feature prioritization and systems architecture.
· Review Requirement Documents, and develop implementation strategies that preserve the availability, performance, integrity, stability, and scalability of site systems and designs.
· Develop design standards and guidelines, and mentor other architects and engineers on best practices.
· Demonstrate expertise and leadership in problem solving expertise. Work with their dedicated studio, Network Engineers, Systems Administrators, Applications Developers, Architects, Data Base Administrators, Operations to prevent or solve difficult performance problems.
· Interact with internal technical leaders to develop innovative solutions that meet internal customer needs with respect to availability, functionality, performance, reliability, repeatability, and scalability.
· Facilitation and team-building skills at all levels. Ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others, including business partners and technical team.
· Contribute to the selection, prototype, and implementation of 3rd party software (e.g. application server software), hardware, network devices, and technical solutions.
· Ability to thrive in a high-pressured but highly structured, customer-oriented environment. Ability to multi-task multiple projects at once
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelors Degree required; Masters preferred
· 10+ years of overall technical experience
· Solid datacenter experience, especially on a large scale, high availability site
· Ability to quickly learn existing complex systems infrastructure
· Knowledge of the Industry options and current working experience with:
o Distributing traffic across multiple data centers and tiers of systems
o Experience with Performance Tuning
o Virtualization Technologies (VmWare, Sun, Grid, Cloud, Clustering, etc).
o Design solutions to meet the required OLA(s), SLA(s), RTO, and RPO for the platform at hand.
o Fault tolerant and highly available system for the available budget and project requirements.
o Database replication options, back up options, and recovery options.
o Options for the Operating System, Web Server, Application Server, Database server, Development Tools, Load Balancing, and Storage.
· Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics
· Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
· Ability to analyze and communicate the current and future capacity of a series of systems.
