BayView Innovations and Yuri Boyko: ABRT Russian Venture fund intends to invest $5 mil in Ukrainian technological projects

June 17, Kiev – ABRT Russian Venture Fund intends to invest $5 mil in several perspective Ukrainian technological projects in the next two years. It was reported by the well-known Russian venture businessman and co-founder of ABRT fund Ratmir Timashev on master-class "Software enterprise creation experience with venture funding", which took place on July 12th in Kiev, organized by BayView Innovations consulting company and Yuri Boyko.
According to Mr. Timashev’s words, ABRT fund, in cooperation with its partners in Ukraine, intends to pick few companies in the field of enterprise software development, consumer software products, and Internet services with development center in CIS countries and sales strategy oriented on North American and West European markets. BayView Innovations has already organized presentation of three Ukrainian innovative projects which Ratmir Timashev estimated as attractive.
“Our strategy assumes investing from $100K to $1 M in companies, which are on the early stages of development. As to companies on the growth stage, which already have more than $1M turnover, we are ready to invest from 2 to 7 million dollars in order to help to scale business and increase sales to tens of millions. Also we have possibility to attract our partner’s funds –European venture fund Mangrove and US-based OpenView. Besides money we bring a considerable additional value as technological and administrative expertise.”
As to Yuri Boyko’s opinion, investment plans of ABRT fund are the clear index of attractiveness to finance Ukrainian technological companies on the early stage of development. It must come to the notice of Ukrainian investors, which shouldn’t miss possibilities to get high profits from investments in young, perspective and fast-growing companies».
According to BayView Innovations’ managing partner Denis Dovgopoly, Ratmir is a good example of a self-made man, who used his talents and capabilities. “He’s an example of how to deal rationally with earned capital. His experience and investments, together with experience of his partners, are an invaluable contribution to industry development. ABRT (together with Martinson Trigon Venture Partners) already made an investment in the Ukrainian-Russian company Invisible CRM, which is developing successfully now and have opened a sales office in California, USA.
ABRT Venture Fund was established by Ratmir Timashev & Andrei Baronov, the founders of Aelita Software, which is known for being sold to a Californian company Quest Software for $115 mil in March 2004. Aelita sale became one of the biggest deals in the whole Russia software market.
